Why Did your Spouse Leave for Other Environment?

Spread the love

In recent times, rather than nesting and building a life together as couple/family, couples are opting to live apart while married.

As much as most couple does not plan to live separately, situations arise that warrants some couples “living apart together” (LAT).

Living apart together trend was basically common mostly among our parents whose children had given birth and then mum had to go for “Omugwo” leaving behind their husbands or if parents are partially separated or widowed.

On the contrary, LAT trend is on the rise amongst the young marriages in recent times, this trend could be planned or unplanned. LAT is considered planned when each partner already had a fore-knowledge of living apart in marriage due to career pursuit for either partner or behavioural differences, while unplanned  LAT could arise as a result of either promotion at work or pursuit of greener pasture for either partner.

Lastly, I would say unplanned LAT could also arise as a result of covetousness: Permit me to explain further;

Spouse A and Spouse B lived together in a common environment had tried to form a relationship together, but Spouse B was reluctant because she thought Spouse A does not match up with her standards, fortunately for Spouse A, he got an opportunity of travelling abroad to start a life and obviously Spouse B worked her way back into Spouse A (because levels don change) and eventually got married but against all luck, Spouse B couldn’t re-unite with her husband and started living apart

Which category do you fall under, is/was your LAT planned, Unplanned or coveted?
