About  Spouses in Diaspora

This blog is borne out of my daily life’s experiences. I am Bolanle Omotayo, married to my lovely husband-Oluwashina, who has been away since our early courtship. I am a fashion designer. I am a trained environmentalist turned blogger.

Marriage is sweet, looking at it from the angle of companionship, the good moments together, the connection between the two, however, not all humans will have the opportunity of close/near companionship, some got married but lost their spouse almost immediately after marriage;  some got tired of the marriage and never voiced out and it became an endurance journey, some got married out of frustration and continued in frustration, some got married to the love of their lives but long distance made them live separately though still in love with each other. Men and women who have found them in this kind of situation are the ones I referred to as spouses in diaspora.

This situation can arise due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • Marriage planned
  • Marriage unplanned
  • Marriage by covetousness

We are throwing our hearts into “married but living singly” blog to share experiences of women (or men) who have lived singly while married. Some are living singly in marriage as a result of long distance.

We promise to be real and not mince words.

AIM: through this, we will be sharing our experience and opinions about a range of topics centered around,

Myth of living singly in marriage

What we do as a single married man or woman

  • How we cope
  • Our belief
  • What we love or do not
  • Our life style
